Audi’s muscular RS3 sportback has long been the hot hatch of choice for performance car fanatics, with each new generation taking the model to ever greater heights of performance and luxury. However, when it comes to the model that many true RS3 connoisseurs covet, the pre-facelift 8V is the one that ticks all the boxes.
Equipped with an iron-block version of the iconic turbocharged 2.5-litre, five-cylinder powerplant, it produces arguably the very best soundtrack of any hot hatch past or present. Add in huge potential for tuning, and you have a package that punches way above its price point.
