Ford Focus RS500 (1 of 500 Limited Edition) – What is different?
When it comes to Fast Fords, there are few badges that convey as much significance and heritage as the RS500 moniker. Ford’s Ralley Sport models have always been at the top of the performance tree, with the original RS500 Sierra Cosworth’s dominating touring car racing the world over in the late 80s. So, when Ford saw fit to equip its swansong model for the MK2 Focus RS with the same legendary title, it was clear this was to be a very special vehicle indeed.

What makes it unique?
Only 500 individually numbered examples were produced worldwide, with just 101 available on UK shores. Instantly recognisable from the factory-applied matt black foil-wrap, each one features a more powerful version of the standard 2.5-litre turbocharged Duratec unit, which raises power from 305 to 350PS. This hike in performance comes from a significantly larger air-to-air intercooler to improve cooling; a larger air box for increased airflow; a larger diameter exhaust downpipe and an uprated fuel pump, along with updated software calibration. These upgrades were developed by Ford TeamRS in partnership with Ford-approved tuning partner Mountune Performance.
Inside, Ford has implemented some changes to set the RS500 apart from the rest. Exclusive red stitching (opposed to blue stitching on standard RS) is seen throughout the whole interior including the black dynamica and leather Recaro RS shell bucket seats, the full leather trim featuring the steering wheel, door trim, gear lever gaiter and the floor matts. And for some finer details the gear knob features a red H-Pattern, a unique carbon-effect finish to the radio surround and center console inlays with a distinctive RS pattern, along with the 142/500 build number on a metal plaque.
The limited production run and exclusivity of this model makes it an increasingly desirable option for Ford fans and collectors alike. Add in a low mileage of only 8900 miles from new, just two former enthusiast keepers and every single factory extra from new and this stunning example presents an outstanding opportunity to secure one of these true modern classics.
For the past 8 years, since 2015, this example has been stored and cared for by our in-house team at Automotive Addiction, who has held the car as part of an extensive collection for the previous owner. As clean on the original underside as it is on top, it also benefits from a fresh foil-wrap that has been completed by vehicle wrapping experts Blueprint in Nottingham only 1,600miles ago. This has eliminated any defects that can often be found in the original factory applied foil-wraps, making this ultra-rare example even better than new.
